Barn Manager Job Description
Salary: $30,000 (Dependent on Experience & Living Arrangements)
Camp Balcones Springs (CBS) is located outside of Marble Falls, Texas, near Austin, Texas. This position is a year-round, full time, position. There is housing available on site. During the summer, CBS operates as a sleepaway camp for nine weeks; housing up to 250 campers a term. The horse program during the summer consists of group riding lessons of up to 10-12 campers per lesson, so not all campers get a horseback experience. During the rest of the year, CBS is a wedding and retreat venue that offers horse activities to its guests. Activities range from trail rides, weekly lessons, pony painting, and beer burros. The horse herd at CBS is quite small, consisting of about 10 horses, the rest are borrowed or leased for the summer months.

• The ability to work long hours in various weather conditions
• The ability to carry 50 pounds
• Experience working with horses
• Experience teaching lessons
• The ability to communicate clearly and efficiently
• The ability to work with others of varying experience & knowledge levels
• The ability to network and socialize
• Must be self-motivated and be able to work with little supervision
Job Description:
• Manage day – to – day of horse barn and care of animals
• Manage feed supply and order feed/hay as needed
• Exercise horses regularly
• Run trail rides
• Give riding lessons
• Provide/facilitate Beer Burro for weddings on request
• Schedule vet and farrier appointments
• Work with Horseback Director to accomplish goals/projects
• Trail & arena maintenance
• Work with Maintenance Team when help is needed for projects (fencing, plumbing, mowing)
• In the absence of a Horseback Director, help with their duties
• Other duties as assigned
