WANTED: ASSISTANT RANCH OPERATIONS MANAGER

~ UTAH/COLORADO border ~

Looking to immediately hire an experienced hardworker to join us on a beautiful, very large working ranch of mixed BLM and private ground spread over the sandstone country of the Utah and Colorado border, from 4-10,000 feet. Mountain Island Ranch is multi-generational, all under conservation easement, organic, and regularly testing climate/drought adaptation strategies, as well as conducting habitat improvements and species conservation projects alongside grazing, farming, and outfitting enterprises.

Assistant will work with Operations Manager to become capable of running multiple aspects of ranch. Will be trained to share and swap duties as needed and directed by management. Duties include operating two different hay farms, utilizing side rolls and multiple center pivots; maintaining irrigation infrastructure and haying/farming equipment; putting up hay; help with machine/vehicle/infrastructure maintenance; working with third party cattle lessee on herd management; maintaining fences/corrals, roads, stock and wildlife ponds; working with neighbors on water sharing and measurement.

Other duties include working with Owners/Managers and Operations Manager on habitat conservation and restoration projects, as well as cooperative wildlife projects with various agencies and NGOs.

Must have prior ranch & farm experience and mechanical skills.

This is NOT a cowboying job. This is not a dude ranch job.

LOCATION: Glade Park, CO

Open until filed; desired start asap.

COMPENSATION: Salary commensurate with experience. Housing available. Significant PTO in winter.
